Winter/Spring 2022 Leagues and Tournaments

VPL is back on the heels of the easing of BC Provincial Health Order and we are immediately resuming the leagues and tournaments we had planned to start in January. Please note that due to the amended Provincial Health Order published on Feb 17th, that as an “indoor organized event” VPL will be checking for a valid vaccine passport for events hosted at Powerhouse.

Check out our Leagues & Tournaments page for more details or come on down to one of the venues that we meet at to join in the action. It should be noted that our league format is changing this season due to recent adjustments made by the IFPA (our sanctioning body) around what constitutes a “league”. After our initial 3 session season at Peacock’s and our 2 session season at Powerhouse which have been grandfathered in, moving forward we will be required to run no less than 6 sessions to constitute a proper season.

As such Peacock’s will move to a 6 session season starting April 4th and Powerhouse will move to weekly tournaments rotating through various tournament styles.

Fall 2021 – Mid Season Report

We are just over half way through the Fall 2021 schedule with 3 League seasons and 3 Tournaments in the books. There is still another season at both Peacock Billards and Powerhouse Pinball Club with tournaments planned into December so it is never too late to join us for some games!

The Vancouver Island standings are bunching up in a few spots so it will be an exciting finish to determine the final rankings at the end of December. The top 24 ranked players on the island will qualify for the 2020-21 Vancouver Island Championships that will be held in January 2022.

Keep an eye on our Event Calendar to find out where we will be or reach us at victoriapinball@gmail.com

Fall 2021 Seasons & Tournaments Are Underway

We are ready to kick off some new seasons and tournaments for Fall 2021 at Peacock Billiards and the Powerhouse Pinball Club. In addition to the leagues there will be bi-weekly tournaments at Powerhouse with a few Strikes tournaments to kick these off. All skill levels are welcome and this is where and how often you can find us:

  • Powerhouse – bi-weekly Wednesdays (starting Sept 8)
  • Peacock Billiards – bi-weekly Mondays (starting Sept 13)
  • Powerhouse Tournaments – bi-weekly Wednesdays (starting Sept 15)

Keep and eye on our Events Calendar for tournament and league updates.

Chemainus Showdown

VPL in conjunction with Mid Island Pinball is proud to bring Chemainus some IFPA sanctioned pinball on Saturday August 28th! We will be at Wizards Arcade (9790 Willow St) and Wiffle Games (9756D Willow St) for five single game tournaments. Entry is via coin drop with a $1 per tournament IFPA entry cost.

From 10am through 5pm players will compete for the highest score in each tournament. The top 4 from each tournament will move onto the playoffs. We will start the playoffs at 5pm sharp at Wizards Arcade for the first 3 games and then move a block down the street to Wiffle Games for the final 2 games. The player with the top overall finish on all 5 machines will win a prize and there will likely be some door prizes throughout the day.

Come on out to Wizards Arcade and Wiffle Games to help us launch what will be many more events for the mid island!

Tilt!? You monster!

VPL is back for another meetup at the Powerhouse Pinball Club on Friday October 30th from 7pm until 9:30pm. We will be a running a Flip Frenzy tournament from 7:30 to 9:30 with 30 mins of warm up starting at 7pm sharp. The cost to attend is $20 all inclusive with 50% of the proceeds going to local charities. Spots are filling up quickly so if you would like to secure a place for this event please email us at victorialpinball@gmail.com. (note: Powerhouse Pinball requires all attendees to wear a mask)

A quick note about the Powerhouse Pinball Club. They have been rotating in new games regularly to keep the lineup fresh. Keep an eye on their instagram for updates and teases as to what is coming next. Deadpool, Indiana Jones, Bride of Pinbot and Monster Bash were the 4 new additions this week.

And finally, Powerhouse has started a Twitch stream that they are running Saturday/Sunday nights from 8-9pm. Check it out and say “Hi” to the Powerhouse gang or head on down you might get a chance to show the internet your skills!

VPL is back! (sort of)

VPL is happy to announce that we will be hosting monthly meet ups at Powerhouse Pinball. We had our first meet in August with another set for Friday Sept 25th from 7 – 9:30pm. The cost to attend these events is $20 all inclusive (machines set to free play), half of which will be going to a new charity each meet up. Last month we raised $170 for the Help Fill a Dream Foundation which grants wishes for kids with terminal illnesses.

Attendance for these events is limited to VPL members with a maximum of 20 people per event. At the time of writing we still have 4 spots open for next Friday so if you would like to attend this or future events please email us at victoriapinball@gmail.com so that you can be added to our mailing list.

Leagues are still on hold right now but if you are looking to hit the flippers there are still a couple of options around:

  • Powerhouse Pinball Club – with Quazar’s still doing private rentals only the newly renovated Powerhouse is opening as a private pinball club Saturday’s 1-9pm. They have around 10 safely distanced games on the floor at any given time. Check their website for more info and how to join.
  • Peacock Billiards – Open 7 days a week they have 6 pinball machines with 2 or 3 available at any given time. They alternate machines on/off to ensure safe distancing.
  • Wiffle Games (Chemainus) – 3 machines at Wiffle that are available to play when the store is open. Currently Cactus Jack’s, Elvira and the Party Monsters and Star Wars (DE).
  • Wizard’s Arcade (Chemainus) – 12 machines from mostly the late 70’s to mid 80’s here plus some arcade games. Wizards is located in the Chemainus Public Market.

Stay safe and keep flippin’
